Each season, Pantone names the most popular design colors. And this fall, as the weather chills out, clothing will heat up with more than just thicker fabric. The tones and hues are also much warmer, namely two of the most popular Pantone choices: cadmium orange and cashmere rose.

Orange You Glad?

Cadmium orange, a super bright citrus hue, walked the fall runways in tangerines and sherbets as well as mandarins and apricots. Brushed off in seasons past as flip and trendy, orange has emerged this fall as a basic power color at home equally in an office setting as on the weekend.

Designers showed bold tailored suits in head-to-toe orange and wrap dresses in the brightest tones possible. It’s out there and ready for the daring. But for most everyone else’s everyday use, off the runway, you can incorporate cadmium orange into your fall closet without dressing top to bottom in the color.

Seek out shoes with orange accent heels. For a casual day out, pair a bright orange silk shirt with denim, a match made in fashion heaven. And don’t forget bright cadmium orange chunky bracelets or dangling earrings for a touch of today’s color with nearly any outfit.

Smelling Like a Rose

Another Pantone-favored hue this season is cashmere rose, a soft, almost pink color that’s more muted than red and more forceful than pink. The runways showed the color in laser cut lace and poppy florals with rough and ready accessories that cut the girlie factor in half and allowed the pretty color to make a new statement.

Wear it yourself this season in blush-hued leather handbags, chain-accented rosy suede pumps and silken shirts paired with tougher leather jackets. Make sure to wipe out any hint of sweet sugar with a blast of street.

Take these normally spring colors and make them yours this winter. And, surprisingly, you can wear the two together for an even more “now” look.
