If the fashion magazines and runways make you feel intimidated, have no fear. We’re here with tips on how to find your own personal style to make you feel confident and fashionable…at the same time. You’ll go from staring at your closet, not knowing what to wear, to being excited to show off your new style.
Step One: Invest in some classic basics that will never go out of style. Spending your money on quality pieces is the first step to a great wardrobe. Some things to keep your eye out for: a well-fitting pair of dark-washed jeans; a black blazer; a little black (or red!) dress; a neutral-colored pair of heels; and a plain white tee.
Step Two: Assess your closet and pick out the items that you feel most yourself in. These will give you a sense of what your style is and how to build upon it. If you stock your closet full of things that make you feel amazing, you’ll always have something to wear.
Step Three: Now that you’ve invested in basics and pared down your existing wardrobe, it’s time to inject some personal style. Take a look at trends that you see in magazines, but also what you see every day: in your office, on your friends, at the coffee shop. You don’t need to follow every trend, just take note of what you like and slowly collect items that are similar. Some good pieces to start with: a chunky necklace; a bright-colored shoe; a patterned blouse; a sparkly skirt; and scarves.
