Whether it’s running through the sprinklers on a hot afternoon at home, going to the local community pool for a dip, or crashing through the surf on a tropical beach vacation, most kiddos love to be in the water during the summer. Active kids require swimwear that’s durable, comfortable, and cute (why not?), and two suits are definitely better than one. Here’s what’s savvy in kids’ swimwear this season.
Boys
This season, patterns are trending for boys, from babies to toddlers to grade-schoolers. Vintage tropical print, nautical stripes, or whimsical patterns (like animals or shapes) in either bright or muted colors are all fun choices. Drawstring swim trunks will probably be your son’s top style choice, as they are rugged, comfortable, and athletic, but slip-on elastic shorts (especially for the younger ones) are also stylish – and very retro.
Girls
From bikinis to tankinis to fashionable or athletic one-pieces, girls have oodles of swimsuit styles to choose from. This season, bright patterns, feminine florals, and flouncy ruffles are especially in style and are looks that your little girl will love. Cut outs are also a popular detail when it comes to one-pieces. For younger girls (toddlers and babies), one-pieces with fluffy skirts look absolutely adorable.
Last but not least – don’t forget hats, sunglasses, and plenty of sunscreen!
